By mastering the realm of sound and vibration, one can powerfully affect consciousness and health. Peter Blum and Naaz Hosseini have worked for decades in the fields of performance and therapy, using sound as a major tool for transformation. Liberation through sound is the aim of the practices that you will learn in this intensive one-day workshop for seekers, healers, therapists, and anyone interested in deepening awareness and healing through sound. No prior musical training is necessary.

Naaz Hosseini is a “SoundShifter”, vocalist, voice empowerment coach, and psychotherapist. She recorded her CD, SoundPath, as a therapeutic journey, freeing her own voice and opening the doorway for her voice healing work with others. As a multi-disciplinary performer she has appeared world-wide with the Meredith Monk Vocal Ensemble, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, and the Laura Dean Dancers and Musicians at numerous venues including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. She can be heard in recordings of Meredith Monk, Peter Blum, Andy Teirstein as well as in film scores of John McDowell and Richard Martinez. As composer/ performer, she collaborated with Pilobolus, the National Theatre of the Deaf, and Bridgman/Packer Dance. As an educator, Naaz developed the Artistic Learning Method and trained thousands of students and teachers to deepen their thinking and understanding, using body movement and shapes. She has trained graduate-level counseling students at Columbia University. As a qualified gestalt therapist and internal family systems therapist, Naaz has a private practice in Nyack for individuals, couples, and groups providing psychotherapy as well as voice empowerment. She works with clients in person and remotely via phone and Skype.

Peter Blum, Woodstock area musician and hypnotherapist, has been exploring the more esoteric aspects of sound for the past twenty-five years.  He studied North Indian classical music with the senior disciple of Ravi Shankar, Ustad Jamulludin Bhartiya.  He studied the use of sound for healing with Jill Purse and studied varieties of sound meditation with Native American shaman Beautiful Painted Arrow and avant-garde composer Pauline Oliveros.
