Sound Bathed and Refreshed!

October 5, 2013

SoundBathUnisonBack from Sound Bath with Steve Gorn and Peter Blum at Unison Arts in New Paltz, New York. I feel cleansed, relaxed, and renewed.

Every Sound Bath is different. We never know what will emerge because it’s completely spontaneous. But often, the sounds will surround us like an ocean. Other times, a melody emerges and my voice echoes Steve’s bansuri flute, with a melody that’s different, yet related, intertwining each with the other like a dance. Then there are the moments when my voice becomes voices, ancient and future: babbling, whispering, and exclaiming in imaginary languages. And Peter’s dozens of singing bowls!  Ringing in their unique and layered tones, pulsing softly through us, massaging us from the inside out.

In Peter’s words:

We feel that sound heals in a non-specific way. It’s a panacea. Take these healing sounds home. Dream them. Live them. Embody them in your lives. May we meet again sometime.”

Here’s a brief clip from last Spring with Steve Gorn (clarinet), Peter Blum (tamboura), and Naaz Hosseini (voice). Hope you enjoy it!

Our next Sound Bath is scheduled for January 17 at Nyack Yoga, 42 Main Street, Nyack, NY. Peter, Steve, and I will be joined by remarkable sound healer and instrument maker, Thomas Workman.
