Come join us for the opening reception of the Autumn 2016 Art Exhibition: “Mythica“. The exhibit features the sculpture of Grace Knowlton and the encaustic photography of Lisa Levart.
The reception includes a live music performance by Naaz Hosseini and Peter Blum. Light refreshments will be served.
As a duo, Peter and Naaz have worked together, presenting SoundBaths for the past 15 years.
“The keys [to these spontaneous performances] are a) listening, and b) trusting – our own innate musical instincts, each other, and the audience. We attempt to tune in during a performance to the collective unconscious of everyone present and to play the sounds that emerge from our mutual dream. Hypnotherapist and sound healer Peter Blum creates a unique meditational environment using large gongs, bells, cymbals, tuning forks, drums, tamboura, flute, and his collection of dozens of Himalayan singing bowls. Peter has studied music and sound healing with Dr. Karl Berger, Ustad Jamaluddin Bhartiya, Beautiful Painted Arrow (Joseph Rael), Pauline Oliveros, John Beaulieu, and Don Conreaux. He has given workshops and soundhealing concerts at Omega Institute, Abode of the Message, Menla Mountain Retreat Center, The Graduate Institute, and yoga studios across America.
Naaz Hosseini is a master vocalist, violinist, dancer, composer, voice empowerment coach and psychotherapist. As a multi-disciplinary performer, she has appeared world-wide with the Meredith Monk Vocal Ensemble, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, and the Laura Dean Dancers and Musicians at venues including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Tokyo University, Walker Art Center, and the Steirischer Herbst Festival. As composer/performer, she collaborated with Pilobolus, the National Theatre of the Deaf, and Bridgman/Packer Dance. Naaz has presented her voice healing and empowerment workshops at Kripalu, Omega, Gestalt Center for Psychotherapy and Training and numerous private studios.
